About TUG
The Triton Users Guarantee Company (TUG) was set up in 1980 and is the longest established, insurance backed guarantee company in the specialist remedial industry. It was set up to enable Triton Chemical Manufacturing Company’s network of approved contractors to offer an insurance backed guarantee, as a back-up to their own guarantee, following the completion of specialist remedial buildings works such as damp proofing and timber preservation.
TUG back-up guarantees are issued for a maximum of 30 years from the date of completion of works. They provide peace of mind to the contractors’ clients by coming into force in the event of the approved contractor ceasing to trade due to bankruptcy or compulsory winding up. If the Triton approved contractor ceases to trade during the guarantee period, TUG becomes responsible for the unexpired period.
The TUG back up guarantee covers materials and workmanship on the following treatments:
Damproofing/Timber Treatment- Replacement Cavity Wall Ties
- Below Ground Waterproofing (Membranes)
The TUG guarantee is one of the few in the industry which covers below ground waterproofing such as Triton’s BBA Approved Sealed Cavity Drain Membrane System.
The TUG guarantee is independent of any manufacturer, and has been backed by insurance cover from the same underwriter, Lloyds of London, for over 20 years.
The TUG guarantee is accepted by relevant authorising bodies such as architects, local authorities, building societies, banks and other specifiers. It remains valid irrespective of any change of ownership of the property within the unexpired period of the contractor’s own guarantee cover.
